Compound-Complex Sentence contains two or more independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses.
Example 1:
- The man stole the jewelry and he hid it in his home until he could safely get out of town.
- Although our team feared the opposition, they played exceptionally well, and they almost won the game.
- After she left, Mary went to sleep and I did the dishes.
Note that, the subordinating conjunction “after” tells us that “after she left” is a dependent clause, and that the coordinating conjunction “and” tells us that there are two independent clauses.
